National strategic plan for the management of tomato

LEAFMINER (Tuta absoluta) IN MAURITIUS 
STRATEGIC FRAMEWORK 2022–2027

Tuta absoluta has been discovered in Mauritius in September 2019 and is a serious pest of tomato. A national strategy for the management of Tomato Leaf Miner (Tuta absoluta) has been drafted and validated for domestication in July 2022 A validation workshop has been organised by the NPPPO and the FAO to engage all stakeholders such as research and extension organisations, planters, importers, etc

 

The overall objective of the national strategy for the management of tomato leaf miner is to strengthen the capacity of various stakeholders in the tomato value chain for effective and efficient management of the pest in order to reduce its adverse impacts on food security and the livelihoods of growers as well as on human and environmental health systems
